Bobby Holley raising money to buy hats, gloves, socks for children

Bobby Holley is once again launching a collection to buy hats, gloves and mittens for children in need.

The Battle Creek activist and musician is partnering with the Church of Living Water to collect donated, redeemable cans and bottles on Saturdays to raise money to purchase hats, gloves, mittens and socks for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Swimming Earband For Kids

“There are a lot of needy kids that are going to need some new hats, gloves and socks that can’t afford them during the fall and winter seasons,” Holley said. He hopes to raise enough funds to "buy and distribute hundreds of these winter items to all needy children in the community."

Clean cans and bottles can be dropped off in plastic bags each Saturday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Pennfield Plaza, 1432 Capital Ave. NE, and from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Urbandale Plaza at 1525 W. Michigan Ave.

Holley is also accepting donations of new hats, gloves, mittens and socks — as well as money to purchase those winter items — at the shopping centers' parking lots during those times. A GoFundMe page has also been set up.

Additionally, monetary donations can be sent to the Church of Living Water at P.O. Box 2296, Battle Creek, MI 49016.

Collections will run through Feb. 4.
