Multiple firefighter agencies responded to the Clinton County Airport on Sunday when foam went off in a hangar at the Wilmington Air Park.

One person is dead after fire suppression foam was released at a Wilmington Air Park hangar Sunday. Officials say they don't know what triggered the fire suppression foam in the hangar but say it wasn't a fire.

One person is dead and 8 firefighters were injured in the response.

It all happened around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

As fire and EMS crews were responding, they learned of two people trapped in a vehicle at the entrance of the hangar and one person who was missing.

First responders arrived about 10 minutes later but the initial search was cut short due to unsafe conditions.

More departments responded and two maydays were sent out.

Eight firefighters suffered various injuries from eye injury to electric shock.

Three were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. All are expected to be OK.

Crews were able to rescue the two people trapped in a vehicle but the one person missing inside could not be saved.

We know the man who died had an office inside the hangar where this happened. He has been identified as 55-year-old Tim Law who was an airborne maintenance area supervisor.

It's unclear how old the fire suppression system is.

Officials are stressing safety and training is always a priority and they are saddened by the loss.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the investigation.

Rich Corado, president and CEO of Air Transport Services Group, the parent company of Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services, said the company's priority is on supporting the family following the incident.

"Safety and training are part of our culture and incidents like the one that happened yesterday validate that focus," Corado said.
